The Google Pixel 4 series devices are among the most anticipated phones of the year, at least among tech enthusiasts. There were a few rumors regarding the two phones, including a leak or two, and now the Pixel 4 appeared in a concept form.
For years now, Google has opted to release its Pixel lineup in the latter half of the year, after the usual roller coaster of smartphone releases from the first half of the year has died down. More specifically, we expect a launch event sometime in early October based on past form, with it also being likely that Google will take the opportunity to launch a few other hardware options at the same time, such as the long-rumored Pixel Watch.
Following the announcement, it’s likely that the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will hit stores in early November, if past years are anything to go by.
Pixel 4 concept looks stunning. Bezels are almost non-existent, and the overall design can be described as “boxy”. These concept renders actually placed the camera next to an earpiece, above the display, as the top bezel is a bit thicker than the side ones, but only barely.
On the other hand, the Pixel 4 might arrive toting the punch-hole design used by the Honor View 20 and then brought into the mainstream by the Samsung Galaxy S10 line.
The Google Pixel 3 XL had a huge display notch which was more or less universally disliked, so Google is probably trying to find a way not to include a notch at all on the Pixel 4 series. The company is rumored to stay away from pop-up cameras, and display camera holes as well, so the solution with extremely thin bezels while keeping the front-facing camera(s) above the display may be a way to go.
