Facebook-owned Instagram has just added one of the best features from its sister app, WhatsApp: direct voice messages.
Just as in WhatsApp, you can find it in any conversation (including group chats) in the Direct messaging section of the app. Tap and hold the microphone button located in the text entry box, and you can record a message to send to your contacts. They can listen to it whenever they like.
Voice is definitely an easier way to connect with users, and saves your data usage as well, working in conditions where the network isn’t at its best. The feature is rolling out to Android and iOS version of Instagram across the globe this week.
Sending a voice note is easy. Press and hold the microphone button (as shown below) and hold it while talking. You’ll see the graph jump once you start speaking. Interestingly, the voice messages, unlike Stories on Instagram will not get deleted automatically, even after 24 hours and anybody can listen to them whenever they want.
You can record a voice message for up to one minute, as confirmed by the Facebook-owned platform.
