Apples new MacBook Pro and its surprise upgrade

Apple has updated its MacBook Pro laptops with new processors, keyboards and display technology, and hands-free Siri. The biggest change is the upgrade to Intel’s latest eighth-generation processors, which now ship in the 15-inch and 13-inch MacBook Pro models.

Apple says users should see up to a 70 percent performance boost on the 6-core 15-inch model and up to 2x the performance on the highest-end 13-inch model. Apple didn’t upgrade the regular MacBook Pro without Touch Bar. There are other changes that are just as important. Apple says it’s including an improved and a tweaked third-generation version of that keyboard that purports to be quieter. Giving it a quick typing test, it wasn’t whisper-quiet, but it did lack the sharp click of the previous design. Apple recently decided to start fixing some MacBook Pro models with defective keyboards. Storage can be configured up to 2TB.

Pricing for the base model here also stays the same at $1,799. The the battery capacity has been increased to compensate for the extra power draw from the new processors and RAM. Apple says that it’s not changing its battery life estimates for these machines. The port configuration is, of course, staying the same: four Thunderbolt / USB-C ports and a headphone jack.

Also another feature is the True Tone, a feature found on recent iPhones and iPad Pros, uses light sensors to automatically adjust the color temperature of the display to best match your viewing environment. It can make the color range warmer or colder on the fly. For example, the screen will display colors in a way that better matches what that color would look on a real-world wall or object in your current lighting conditions. And not to forget Siri, which has been available on Macs since 2016 however it wasn’t very effective as it couldn’t just be woken up by saying “Hey Siri” . But now she can hear you just like your iPhone.
Also interesting are the new MacBook leather sleeves to keep it safe and covered, Apple already makes these for the 12-inch MacBook, and the new 13- and 15-inch versions will come in brown, blue and black. They’ll be $179 for the 13-inch and $199 for the 15-inch.
